Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has rejected the Ekiti State Police Command’s description of the October 30 incident in Ado-Ekiti as an altercation, insisting that he and members of his team were attacked by suspected political thugs.
The incident occurred at a restaurant in the Dallimore area of Ado-Ekiti, triggering initial reports of an alleged kidnapping, which the police later dismissed.
In statements shared on social media, Sowore accused the alleged attackers of having links to the Ekiti State Government House and claimed that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) assisted the attack.
He also alleged that the police and DSS took possession of the restaurant’s CCTV footage, which he believes could help identify those responsible.
The allegations have not been independently verified, while the DSS had yet to publicly respond. The police have ordered an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine those responsible.
