ABEOKUTA – Local Government retirees in Ogun State have said that the Selfless service rendered by the late Chairman of the Association, Chief Sikiru Ayilara, deserves to be Immortalized by the association.
The association of Local Government Pensioners of Nigeria in a statement signed by the Vice- Chairman, Deaconess Adeola Aranju after an emergency meeting in Abeokuta commiserated with his family, the people of Imeko, Yewaland and Ogun State on the irreparable loss which they said foreclosed an irreplaceable era in the history of the association in Ogun State.
According to the statement, the departed Chairman was described as a kind and caring leader whom the Association will greatly missed.
The association while eulogising the qualities of late Chief Ayilara described his administrative acumen as unparalleled and a patriotic unionist of note.
The Senior citizens said the association will continue to remember the late Chairman for his bravery at speaking the truth to the power that be and confronting successive governments over unpaid gratuities.
The association executive Council said Chief Ayilara had led the association to the satisfaction of all members in his over thirty-one years of his unionism as retirees leader despite the immediate collection of his Gratuity on retirement
The association after an emergency meeting on the death of the Chairman also set up various committees to organize a befitting burial for the energetic and vibrant late senior citizen.
