ABEOKUTA – The major structure of African Democratic Congress (ADC), in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State has collapsed its structure and joined the bandwagon of Senator Solomon Adeola, the APC Senatorial candidate of Ogun West with a pledge to work for all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Yewa South LGA is the home Local Government Area of Barrister Biyi Otegbeye, the ADC gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 election.
The defectors led by Alhaji Hassan Ajibola, the Yewa South Coordinator of ADC, numbering over 500 were received by Senator Adeola at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion, Empire Field, Ilaro in the presence of Hon. Kayode Oladele, former Chief of Staff to the Chairman of EFCC and former House of Representatives member representing Imeko Afon/Yewa North Federal Constituency.
Explaining why they left the ADC, Alhaji Ajibola stated that as experienced politicians, it was clear that ADC is going nowhere in terms of winning election stressing that it is a difficult task backing a party and candidates that are not in government at any level in Nigeria.
“We have come to the realization that ADC as a party have no prospect of winning election as it is not even in contention among the front runners at the national level. We have seen the activities of Senator Adeola in terms of development of infrastructure and empowerment of our people across party line and decided to join him as a body with all the coordinators, Woman and Youth Leaders of Yewa South.” He stated.
Alhaji Ajibola popularly called “Alaso Oke” by his supporters said they are convinced beyond doubt that Senator Adeola means well for the people of Ogun West and will work for him to be the nest senator of Ogun West stressing that even before his election, Senator Adeola has done much for the people as a demonstration that better day lies ahead with his representation.
“We watched your various empowerment programme and only yesterday we witnessed you campaign rally at UAMC Primary School, Pahayi where you continue your good deeds for the people. We are with you for this election and beyond for greater office” he pledged.
Welcoming the defectors, Senator Adeola expressed joy that his people are now seeing the light beyond the deception engineered against the interest of Ogun West people in fostering a governorship candidate from the area in a party without presence at any level of government.
“It is unfortunate that a few of our people are yet to realize the folly of pursuing our cause for justice in a political party without President, Governor, Senator and other serious government positions nationwide. This is a recipe for failure. Other people in the state always realize their interest in major political parties at state and federal level” he said.
Senator Adeola commended the defectors for jettisoning ADC as the sole sponsor of its governorship candidate remains in APC adding if he meant well for the people of Ogun West, then he should be man enough to join his avowed candidate for Ogun State in ADC.
“You are all aware how the sponsor of the ADC candidate spent 8 years in office and completely marginalized Ogun West. Now he is pretending to love Ogun West. We are no fools and can see his pursuit of his personal agenda. We are supporting the incumbent governor Prince Dapo Abiodun and all APC candidates. I am glad you are joining us at this critical time” he stated.
Earlier, Senator Adeola met with Widows from Ogun West led by Pastor (Mrs.) Modupeoluwa Matanmi at the same venue in company of his wife Chief (Mrs.) Temitope Adeola, founder of CHADASH Foundation with a promise to support them in all his empowerment programmes as well as support his wife’s NGO programme for them in April, 2023.
