ABEOKUTA – The House of Representatives Candidate of Allied People’s Movement (APM) for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Honorable Micky Kazzim on Tuesday, disclosed that lawmaking should be exclusively preserved for experienced politicians and not for a neophyte.
Hon. Micky stated this while featuring on a popular programme titled “Oju Abe” Splash 106.7 Fm Abeokuta.
According to Micky, the National Assembly which comprises both Senate and House of Representatives is not a place for “on the job trainings”.
He stressed further that, National Assembly is a place where experience counts, saying a fresh politician can be there for three years, but yet, not having rudiment knowledge of lawmaking.
According to him, that was why some legislators are seen “sleeping or saying I concur”, during plenary, instead of making legislative contribution to better the lots of their voters and/or constituents.
Also, Hon. Micky said, lawmaking is supposed to be the job for experienced and hard-working legislators with trackrecords of democratic achievements and success stories.
He emphasized that legislators should not be seen to have overstayed in the assembly as long as the electorates can allude to his performance in terms of infrastructural facilitations and legislative prowess.
He, therefore, advised the electorate to emulate the United Kingdom and USA parliamentary system by voting experienced legislators who have over the years gathered more than enough knowledge needed for efficient and effective legislation come February 25th, 2023 election.
