ABEOKUTA – The deceased governorship candidate of People’s Redemption Party (PRP), late Professor David Bamgbose made the list of governorship candidates pasted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ogun state.
Bamgboye who died on September 3, 2022 just six days after declaring to run for the governorship race on the platform of PRP.
He had since been buried on September 17, 2022.
But on the INEC list on Tuesday, his name was on the 23 on the list.
A top INEC official who spoke with our reporter on condition of anonymity said the inclusion of the deceased’s name was due to the inability of his party to replace his name before time.
On the list 13 governorship and deputy governorship candidates for governorship election, only PDP assumed governorship candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu and his deputy governorship candidate, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade were missing on the list.
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Star Boy, Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo made the list following the withdrawal of Madam Adunni Jackie-Kassim from the race.
Former Commissioner for Environment in Ogun State, Engr. Anthony Ojeshina was included on the list as Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate.
Other candidates who made the list are: Adeyemi Harrison of African Action Congress (AAC), and Sokunbi Olanrewaju of ADP.
